Silicon electrical steel, also known as electrical steel, lamination steel, relay steel, or transformer steel, is specialized steel with added silicon to enhance its electrical conductivity and improve its magnetic characteristics while minimizing energy loss due to hysteresis. This steel is ideal for various applications in electrical engineering where electromagnetic fields play a crucial role, such as transformers, magnetic coils, and electrical motors.
Cold-rolled electrical steel can be divided into two primary types: grain-oriented electrical steel and non-oriented electrical steel. Grain-oriented electrical steel, with its easy magnetization direction parallel to the rolling direction, exhibits exceptional magnetic characteristics in this orientation, including low core loss, high permeability, and low magnetostriction. It is widely used in the transformer industry, and further improvements in core loss can be achieved through domain refinement treatment. Meanwhile, non-oriented electrical steel, characterized by a non-uniform grain distribution and magnetic isotropy, finds wide-ranging applications in the motor industry.
