CG Steel manufactures ASTM A537 in all grades. The ASTM A537 specification encompasses heat-treated carbon manganese-silicon steel plates designed for fusion-welded pressure vessels and storage tanks. This low-alloy steel includes three grades (Class 1, Class 2, Class 3). Plates of these grades are employed when the yield and tensile strength of ASTM A516 do not meet the requirements for pressure services, such as in boilers and pressure vessels within the oil, gas, and petroleum industries.

Typical applications of ASTM A537 Class 1 steel plates include API 650 and API 620 storage tanks, as well as pressure vessels designed for moderate and lower-temperature services, where excellent notch toughness is required. Class 1 steel plates are finished as Normalized, while Class 2 plates are finished as Quenched & Tempered. A537 Class 1 steel plates exhibit good cold forming performance, and for welding, special consumables and welding methods are necessary to avoid harmful effects on the metal structure.
